Avalanche 3, Predators 0: Jarome Iginla scored to record his 1,200th career point and Semyon Varlamov secured his 17th career shutout as Colorado recorded at least a point for the sixth time in seven contests (3-1-3).
Iginla's tally was his 10th in 22 contests and third in as many games for the Avalanche, who defeated Nashville for the first time in three meetings this season. Max Talbot and captain Gabriel Landeskog also tallied, Nathan MacKinnon notched two assists and Varlamov finished with 23 saves.
Marek Mazanec turned aside 25 shots in his first start of season for the Predators, who have dropped four of five (1-2-2) to see their lead over St. Louis in the Central Division shrink to two points. Nashville failed on both of its power-play opportunities after scoring six times with the man advantage in its previous six games.
Ryan O'Reilly wired a sharp centering feed from along the left-wing boards near the end line to MacKinnon, who was stymied from the doorstep before the puck squirted out to Talbot for a tap-in 13:49 into the first period to open the scoring. Iginla doubled the advantage at 5:54 of the third, one-timing Matt Duchene's backhand pass from the right faceoff circle for his team-leading 16th goal.
Landeskog sealed the win by scoring into the empty net with 1:11 to play. Varlamov preserved his fourth shutout of the season by stopping eight shots in the third period of his 14th start in 15 contests.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Iginla pulled into a tie with Dino Ciccarelli for 46th place on the NHL all-time scoring list. ... Nashville C Mike Ribeiro was held off the scoresheet as he saw his three-game point streak halted and remained stuck on 699 career points. ... Avalanche LW Cody McLeod was whistled for hooking with 1:19 remaining in the second period to raise his total to 100 penalty minutes - tying the franchise record with his seventh season in triple digits. ... Duchene's assist extended his point streak to four games.
