Senators 4, Oilers 3 (OT): Rookie Mike Hoffman capped his second two-goal performance in five games 2:39 into overtime as visiting Ottawa prevailed after blowing a three-goal lead.
Hoffman beat Ben Scrivens with a wrist shot from the high slot for his sixth goal in five contests as the Senators halted their three-game slide (0-1-2) by winning in Edmonton for the sixth time in their last seven visits. Alex Chiasson and Milan Michalek joined Hoffman with first-period goals and Craig Anderson made 34 saves for the victory.
Jordan Eberle scored his 100th career goal while rookie Leon Draisaitl and defenseman Jeff Petry also tallied for the Oilers in the opener of their five-game homestand. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins collected two assists and Scrivens turned aside 26 shots in suffering his fourth straight defeat.
Ottawa pounced on Edmonton for three goals in the opening 20 minutes, with Hoffman zipping a wicked wrister from the top of the left faceoff circle past Scrivens 3 1/2 minutes into the contest to extend his goal-scoring streak to three games. Chaisson doubled the lead with 7:09 left in the period, tipping in a slap shot by defenseman Chris Phillips, before Michalek buried a crossing pass from Bobby Ryan just under three minutes later.
After being outshot 17-7 in the first period, the Oilers turned the tide in the middle session, and the pressure paid off when Draisaitl struck on the power play at 12:57, whipping home a rebound from in front. Eberle cut the deficit to 3-2 midway through the third, tucking in a backhander off a scrum in front before Petry notched the equalizer with 6:15 to play, hammering a one-timer into the top right corner of the net off a perfect feed from Nugent-Hopkins.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Eberle joined Tampa Bay's Steven Stamkos as the only players from the 2008 draft class to reach 100 goals. ... Hoffman was held off the scoresheet in seven of his first eight career games prior to his current goal-scoring binge. ... Draisaitl's goal, his second of the season, ended a 1-for-28 rut with the man advantage for Edmonton.
