Senators 6, Flames 3: Milan Michalek and Kyle Turris each scored twice while defenseman Jared Cowen netted the go-ahead goal early in the third period as host Ottawa kept alive its slim postseason hopes.

Clarke MacArthur added a goal and an assist for the Senators, who improved to 3-0-1 in their last four games and moved within six points of the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference. Ales Hemsky notched two assists, Turris had one and Robin Lehner finished with 37 saves.

Rookie Sean Monahan scored his 20th goal while Matt Stajan and Ottawa native Paul Byron also tallied for the Flames, who opened a five-game road trip on a sour note.

Karri Ramo (31 saves) committed a costly turnover, allowing Mika Zibanejad to alertly wire a centering feed to Cowen. The blue-liner quickly wristed a shot past Ramo at 1:12 of the third period to give the Senators a 4-3 lead. MacArthur provided insurance 11 minutes later by chipping the puck past Ramo before Turris found the empty net to record his team-leading 25th goal.

Byron celebrated his homecoming by scoring from the slot at 3:59 of the second period to forge a 2-2 tie. Monahan gave Calgary its first lead just over three minutes later with a sharp-angle shot under the crossbar before Turris trailed the play and beat Ramo with 3:13 left in the second.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The sixth overall pick of the 2013 draft, Monahan ended an 11-game drought to become the first Calgary rookie to reach the 20-goal plateau since Jarome Iginla (1996-97). ... Turris has collected four goals and three assists during his four-game point streak. ... Michalek redirected D Erik Karlsson's shot from the point midway through the first period to open the scoring and gave Ottawa a 2-1 lead by shoveling home captain Jason Spezza's centering feed with 23 seconds left in the session.
