Clarke MacArthur scored with just over six minutes remaining in the third period and James Reimer turned aside all 25 shots he faced as the Toronto Maple Leafs snapped the Pittsburgh Penguins' season-high eight-game winning streak with a 1-0 home triumph on Wednesday.

Mikhail Grabovski notched an assist for his ninth point in four contests for Toronto, which did not have a repeat performance of Tuesday's woeful third period to salvage a split in the home-and-home series. The Maple Leafs permitted three goals in the third en route to a 5-4 shootout loss to the Penguins on Tuesday.

With 6:05 remaining in the third period on Wednesday, Grabovski fed MacArthur in the right circle. MacArthur then settled the puck with his skates before his forehand sailed wide of Brent Johnson, who was making his first start since Dec. 16.

MacArthur collected the loose puck and pushed it past Johnson's stick for his 16th goal of the campaign - and fifth point in three games versus the Penguins this season.

Reimer made the modest offense stand up to secure his second shutout of the season and fifth of his career.

After a scoreless first period, the Penguins appeared to draw first blood 1:17 into the second as Chris Kunitz deflected the puck past Reimer and into the net by using his left skate. Officials originally deemed it a good goal, but the result was overturned after video review.

Making just his second start in 2012, Reimer denied Matt Cooke's backhand on a partial breakaway nearly seven minutes into the first period and NHL points leader Evgeni Malkin on a point-blank chance with 3:10 left in the second.
