Michael Grabner scored the shorthanded game-winner and Al Montoya made 24 saves as the New York Islanders snapped a four-game losing streak with a 3-2 victory over the host New Jersey Devils on Saturday.

Matt Moulson and Josh Bailey each tallied for the Islanders, who won for just the third time in their last 17 games.

The Islanders took the lead for good at the 5:51 mark of the third with Bailey in the penalty box. Skating out of his own zone, Ilya Kovalchuk could not beat Grabner one-on-one. The New York right wing poke-checked the puck away and went at Martin Brodeur, snapping it past to put the Islanders back on top.

The Devils had tied it 2-2 two minutes earlier when Adam Henrique grabbed a loose puck in the neutral zone and beat a pair of defenders, switching to the backhand to beat Montoya.

With an extra attacker on and time winding down, Patrik Elias won a faceoff in the New York zone. Dainius Zubrus fired the puck at a bad angle toward the goal and Zach Parise, who swatted at it while he was falling to the ice with three seconds left. The officials determined on replay that the puck had gone in off the skate on a kicking motion, waving it off.
