Chargers 33, Eagles 30: Philip Rivers connected with Eddie Royal for three touchdown passes and Nick Novak kicked a 46-yard field goal with seven seconds left as San Diego spoiled Chip Kelly’s home debut.

Royal, who had two touchdown catches in Monday night’s season-opening loss to the Houston Texans, finished with seven catches for 90 yards, including the go-ahead score with 3:11 to play. Michael Vick then led Philadelphia down the field and Alex Henery’s 32-yard field goal with 1:55 left forged a 30-30 tie.

However, Rivers (36-of-47, 419 yards) rallied the Chargers on the winning drive to spoil the first home game for Kelly since he took over as Eagles head coach and installed a high-powered offense, which on Sunday produced a career-high 428 passing yards for Vick.

DeSean Jackson had nine catches for 193 yards and a touchdown, though he committed a costly 15-yard penalty after Vick’s late TD run which led to San Diego (1-1) getting terrific field position on the drive that led to Royal's last TD catch. Despite the big games from Vick, Jackson and LeSean McCoy (167 total yards), Philadelphia (1-1) was outgained by San Diego, 539-511.

Antonio Gates had eight receptions for 124 yards for the Chargers, including a key first down strike on the decisive drive. San Diego went 10-for-15 on third down, a huge key in limiting the Philadelphia offense as the Chargers held the ball for more than 40 minutes.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Chargers WR Malcom Floyd (five catches, 102 yards) was sandwiched between two Eagles defenders attempting to make a catch early in the second half. He remained on his back for several minutes before leaving the field on a stretcher. He was taken to a local hospital, but his immediate condition is unknown. … San Diego lost two fumbles inside of the Philadelphia 10-yard line in the final three minutes of the second quarter. Eagles CB Brandon Boykin stripped Gates right near the goal line and, on the Chargers’ next possession, Philadelphia LB Trent Cole forced San Diego RB Ryan Mathews to lose the ball. … Mathews outgained McCoy on the ground 73-53, though McCoy had 114 yards receiving in a losing effort.
