Rams 24, 49ers 24:
David Akers and Greg Zuerlein missed field goals in overtime as St. Louis and host San Francisco recorded the first tie in the NFL in four seasons.

Akers missed a 41-yard attempt midway through the extra period. Zuerlein later booted what would have been a game-winning 53-yard field goal, but the kick was negated due to a delay of game penalty. He tried again from 58 yards but misfired as the teams played to the first tie since Cincinnati and Philadelphia did so in 2008.

The Rams appeared to be headed for the win when Sam Bradford hooked up with Danny Amendola on an 80-yard pass on the first play of overtime. But instead of having the ball at the 49ers’ 2-yard line, that play was also negated by a penalty.

Colin Kaepernick, who replaced starter Alex Smith (concussion), rushed for one score as the 49ers (6-2-1) rallied from a 14-point deficit.

Bradford threw a pair of touchdown passes for the Rams (3-5-1), including a 2-yarder to Austin Pettis with just over a minute to play in regulation. But Kaepernick led San Francisco down the field and Akers sent the game into overtime with a 33-yard field goal with three seconds to play.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Smith suffered a concussion on a helmet-to-helmet hit by Rams LB Jo-Lonn Dunbar at the end of a scramble with 1:10 left in the first quarter. Smith stayed in the game and later connected with Michael Crabtree on a 14-yard touchdown pass. ... Amendola returned to the Rams’ lineup three weeks after sustaining a broken clavicle. He caught 11 passes for 102 yards. … Steven Jackson moved into second place on the team’s all-purpose yards category. He trails just former WR Isaac Bruce. …WR Chris Givens was inactive for the Rams for a violation of team rules.
