Freshman Keyvone Lee rushed for a career-high 134 yards and a touchdown and Penn State ended its longest losing streak to start a season with a 27-17 triumph Saturday over Michigan in Big Ten play in Ann Arbor, Mich.

The Nittany Lions (1-5) had lost their first five games for the first time in the program's history. Sean Clifford passed for 163 yards and rushed for 73 yards, including a touchdown. Parker Washington caught nine passes for 93 yards for Penn State.

In his first career start, Cade McNamara completed 12 of 25 passes for 91 yards for Michigan (2-4). Hassan Haskins rushed for 101 yards on 17 carries and scored both of the Wolverines' touchdowns.

Penn State, which hadn't held a halftime lead since last season, carried a 17-7 lead to the locker room.

The Nittany Lions drove 75 yards on their opening series and Lee completed it by going untouched on a 6-yard run.

Haskins tied it with a 2-yard scoring run late in the quarter. He also set up the touchdown with a 59-yard run.

Clifford put his team back in front with 3:32 remaining in the half on a 28-yard scamper along the left sideline. Clifford also completed a 22-yard pass to Washington during the drive.

A muffed punt allowed the Nittany Lions to extend their lead in the closing seconds of the half. That possession stalled at the 5-yard line, so they settled for Jake Pinegar's 22-yard field goal.

Jake Moody's 40-yard field goal with 9:10 left in the third quarter cut Penn State's advantage to seven points.

Clifford's 29-yard run later in the quarter set up Pinegar's 33-yard field goal to make it 20-10.

Haskins' second 2-yard touchdown run with 13:12 remaining pulled the Wolverines within three points.

Penn State answered with a 12-play drive, which Will Levis finished off with a 2-yard run.

The Nittany Lions' defense stopped Michigan on a fourth-down try with 5:37 left. Penn State's offense then ran out the clock.
