Trevor Lawrence passed for 292 yards and three touchdowns and ran for a fourth Saturday night as top-ranked Clemson defeated No. 7 Miami 42-17 at the Tigers' Memorial Stadium.

Clemson moved to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in the Atlantic Coast Conference while Miami (3-1, 2-1) suffered its first loss of the season.

The victory was Clemson's 25th in a row at home, extending the nation's longest active home winning streak as well as the longest winning streak in program history.

In beating Miami for a third consecutive time, the Tigers evened their all-time record against the Hurricanes at 6-6. Clemson has outscored Miami 138-20 in their three most recent meetings.

Lawrence, who completed 29 of 41 passes, has not been intercepted in his last 355 pass attempts, which is a school record and the longest active streak in the country. He passed former North Carolina State standout Ryan Finley to move into second place all-time in the ACC, and trails only another former NC State standout -- Russell Wilson -- who holds the ACC record with 379.

While Lawrence was the catalyst, senior running back Travis Etienne had 17 carries for 149 yards and two touchdowns, including a 72-yarder with 7:56 left in the third quarter that gave Clemson some breathing room, 28-10.

Etienne's first score gave him a touchdown in an FBS-record 39 career games, breaking a tie he shared with former Florida quarterback Tim Tebow and former Louisiana Tech running back Kenneth Dixon.

Etienne also had eight catches for 73 yards.

Clemson led 21-10 at the half, outgaining the Hurricanes 302-79 and amassing 21 first downs to three for Miami, which got its only touchdown of the first half when defensive lineman Jared Harrison-Hunte blocked a Clemson field-goal attempt that cornerback DJ Ivey returned for a score.

Clemson's defense dominated a Miami offense that entered the game averaging 499 yards per outing. The Tigers held Miami quarterback D'Eriq King to 84 yards rushing on 14 carries and 12 of 28 passing for 121 yards.

Miami running back Cam'Ron Harris, who entered the game averaging 88.5 yards per game, had 3 yards on eight carries.

Clemson tight end Braden Galloway had two touchdown receptions and finished with four catches for a career-high 74 yards.
