No. 11 Miami led 7-0 after 28 seconds and never trailed in a 19-14 victory over Virginia on Saturday night in Atlantic Coast Conference action in rainy Miami Gardens, Fla.

D'Eriq King lofted a 43-yard touchdown pass to a wide-open Mike Harley on the second play from scrimmage for the Hurricanes (5-1, 4-1 ACC), who handed the Cavaliers (1-4, 1-4) their fourth straight loss.

King completed 21 of 30 passes for 322 yards, with Harley hauling in 10 receptions for a career-high 170 yards.

Miami outgained Virginia by a 444-366 margin, despite five sacks and 11 tackles for loss by the Cavaliers' defense.

Cavaliers quarterback Brennan Armstrong returned after missing one game in the concussion protocol and completed 16 of 30 passes for 181 yards with two touchdowns. He also rushed for a game-high 91 yards.

Virginia answered Miami's quick strike with Armstrong's 2-yard TD pass to a leaping Tony Poljan in the back of the end zone with 10:06 left in the first quarter.

Miami's Jose Borregales scored the only points of the second quarter, a 32-yard field goal with 1:02 left.

Borregales also accounted for the only points of the third quarter with a 20-yard field goal, finishing off a 16-play drive to put Miami up 13-7 with 3:47 remaining.

A 1-yard scoring run by Donald Chaney Jr. with 12:04 left in the game capped a 12-play, 80-yard drive. Miami led 19-7 after a failed two-point conversion attempt.

Armstrong's 35-yard touchdown to Ra'Shaun Henry in blown coverage pulled Virginia within 19-14 with 5:27 to play.

After a Miami punt, the Cavaliers got the ball back at their own 20 with 23 seconds left and no timeouts. Virginia lost a fumble with six seconds left for the game's only turnover.

The Hurricanes have now won five of the last six meetings with the Cavaliers and lead 11-7 in the all-time series.

Miami played without All-ACC tight end Brevin Jordan (shoulder) for the second straight game and lost safety Amari Carter to a targeting ejection early in the first quarter. Virginia played without star freshman receiver Lavel Davis Jr. for undisclosed reasons.
