Junior quarterback Peyton Ramsey scored on a 1-yard touchdown run in double overtime, lifting Indiana to a 44-41 win over rival Purdue in West Lafayette, ind.

The Hoosiers (8-4, 5-4 Big Ten) reached eight wins for the first time since 1993 and took back the Old Oaken Bucket Trophy after losing the rivalry game the past two years.

Ramsey passed for 337 yards and three touchdowns and added two more scores on the ground. Junior receiver Whop Philyor had eight catches for 138 yards and two touchdowns, while freshman running back Sampson James had 22 carries for 118 yards and a touchdown before leaving the game in the fourth quarter with a leg injury.

Aidan O'Connell passed for 408 yards and three touchdowns for Purdue (4-8, 3-6 Big Ten), who rallied back from a 28-10 deficit to force overtime. Sophomore running back Zander Horvath rushed for a career-high 164 yards on 23 carries with two touchdowns.

Indiana went up 38-31 in the first overtime on a 14-yard touchdown pass from Ramsey to senior wide receiver Nick Westbrook. Purdue came back to tie it on a 6-yard TD pass from O'Connell to tight end Brycen Hopkins, then went up 41-38 on a 34-yard J.D. Dellinger field goal.

Ramsey's run then won it for the Hoosiers.

Indiana was ahead 28-10 on a 37-yard TD pass from Ramsey to Philyor with 3:30 left in the third quarter before Purdue stormed back with 13 straight points on a pair of Horvath touchdown runs. Horvath's second TD run, with 9:13 left, cut Indiana's lead to 28-23. The two-point conversion attempt failed.

After Indiana senior kicker Logan Justus missed three field goal attempts, the Hoosiers turned to redshirt freshman kicker Charles Campbell, who made a 41-yard field goal with 5:09 left to put the Hoosiers up 31-23.

But the Boilermakers charged back, tying the score at 31 with 2:48 left on a 20-yard TD pass from O'Connell to freshman wide receiver David Bell and a 2-point conversion from O'Connell to Hopkins.

After an interception in the end zone by Indiana defensive back Jamar Johnson thwarted an early Purdue scoring opportunity, Indiana marched 91 yards on 12 plays for the game's opening score. James had a 30-yard run on a drive that ended on a 8-yard TD pass from Ramsey to Philyor, putting the Hoosiers up 7-0.

Indiana extended its lead to 14-0 with 12:39 left in the second quarter when Ramsey scored on a 1-yard TD run on fourth down. But Purdue answered with 10 straight points, on a 20-yard Dellinger field goal and 72-yard TD pass from O'Connell to Hopkins.

The Hoosiers went back up 21-10 on an 8-play, 75-yard TD drive, capped by a 3-yard TD run from James with 3:20 left in the half. James broke a handful of tackles to reach the end zone.

Both teams had chances to tack on points later in the half, but Justus missed a 40-yard field goal attempt, while Dellinger missed a 39-yard attempt with 3 seconds left to send the game to halftime at 21-10.
