After a slow start on offense, Oklahoma State found its stride with five touchdown passes and ran away with a 56-14 nonconference victory Saturday over visiting McNeese, extending its winning streak in home openers to 24 games.

Freshman quarterback Spencer Sanders was 12 of 18 passing for 250 yards in his second career start for Oklahoma State (2-0), and threw for three touchdowns -- all to Tylan Wallace. The junior wide receiver caught five passes for 180 yards.

Oklahoma State running backs Chuba Hubbard and Micah Cooper each scored a touchdown on the ground, while backup quarterback Dru Brown passed for 142 yards and two TDs.

Quarterback Cody Orgeron had 151 yards passing and 89 rushing for McNeese (1-1), also throwing a TD pass. McNeese fell to 0-6 all-time against Big 12 Conference opponents. It was the first ever matchup between the schools, both nicknamed Cowboys.

Oklahoma State's defense held McNeese to 33 total yards in the first quarter, while senior cornerback A.J. Green returned an interception 27 yards for a 7-0 lead on the game's second play from scrimmage.

Oklahoma State's first TD on offense didn't come until 1:29 remained in the first quarter when Sanders hit Wallace on a 69-yard score. Hubbard added a 4-yard scoring run in the second quarter, before Sanders and Wallace hooked up again on a 4-yard score just before halftime for a 28-0 lead.

After Wallace scored on the first play of the second half on a 75-yard catch and run for a 35-0 lead, McNeese answered with a 16-yard scoring pass from Orgeron to D'Andre Hicks. Orgeron extended the 82-yard scoring drive with a 52-yard run on third-and-8.

Oklahoma State had 580 yards of total offense, after gaining just 27 total yards with a fumble in its first two drives. McNeese had 318 yards of total offense, making its way to the 1-yard line twice in the second half but failing to score each time.

Looking to distance itself from a 7-6 season in 2018, tied for second worst under head coach Mike Gundy, Oklahoma State won consecutive games in advance of an intrastate matchup at Tulsa next weekend.
