True freshman quarterback Hank Bachmeier threw for 407 yards and one score, and Boise State scored the final 23 points of the game to upset host Florida State 36-31 on Saturday in Tallahassee, Fla.

Bachmeier completed 30 of 51 passes, including an 11-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Khalil Shakir. Robert Mahone rushed 24 times for 142 yards and two scores for the Broncos, who held the Seminoles scoreless in the second half and overcame a 31-13 deficit.

Boise State cut the lead to 31-19 at halftime, thanks to two of Eric Sachse's five field goals. The senior made all of his attempts, with a long of 41.

The Broncos took a 33-31 lead on Mahone's 1-yard run with 12:44 to go. Sachse added a 30-yard field goal at the 7:27 mark.

Florida State's final drive started at its 25 with 2:25 to go. A holding call on fourth-and-4 negated a first down, and the Seminoles then turned the ball over on downs.

Florida State quarterback James Blackman and Seminoles running back Cam Akers looked good in the first half but disappeared after the break.

Blackman threw for 276 yards in the first half. He finished 23 of 33 for 327 yards and three touchdowns. Akers rushed for 116 yards, including a 38-yard touchdown run on FSU's first possession.

Seminoles receiver Tamorrion Terry caught one of Blackman's three touchdown passes and finished as the leading wideout with four catches for 99 yards. Seminoles receivers Keyshawn Helton and Gabe Nabers both caught a touchdown pass.

The Broncos' defense, which forced two fumbles, was led by cornerback Jalen Walker with seven tackles. Curtis Weaver had a sack and 1 1/2 tackles for loss. Florida State's defense was paced by safety Hamsah Nasirildeen with 12 tackles.

The game, which was originally scheduled to be played at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville as the first part of the home-and-home series between the teams, was moved to Tallahassee on Thursday amid the threat of Hurricane Dorian on Florida's East Coast.
