Alexis Yetna led all scorers with 15 points and Kadary Richmond had 13 points, five rebounds and three assists Sunday to deliver Seton Hall its second win to start the season, an 80-44 picnic over visiting Yale in Newark, N.J.
Myles Cale had 11 points and seven rebounds and Bryce Aiken, a former Harvard star with a history against Yale, added nine points for the Pirates (2-0).
Jared Rhoden came off the bench for his season debut after missing the opener with a right ankle sprain. The preseason All-Big East first-teamer recorded eight points and a team-high 10 rebounds.
Yale's Jalen Gabbidon had 14 points and 11 rebounds in the Bulldogs' first loss of the year. Matthue Cotton went for 12 points and Azar Swain added 10 on just 3-of-14 shooting.
Yale (2-1) went a dismal 4-for-30 from 3-point range and shot 24.2 percent overall.
Seton Hall opened on a 15-2 run and didn't allow a field goal for the first 5:46 of the game. Jamir Harris hit a pair of 3-pointers in that stretch before cooling off for the rest of the day.
Yale charged back to within four, but Aiken pulled off a behind-the-back dribble to get his defender caught in a screen and knocked down a 3. That play started a 14-0 run that also featured dunks from Cale and Ike Obiagu.
The Pirates led 45-22 at the half. They made 51.7 percent from the floor in the first half, including 5 of 12 3-point tries.
The Bulldogs made one more push early in the second half, with Cotton hitting a 3 that set off an 11-2 stretch. But Seton Hall answered with 15 straight points. Cale slammed home his third dunk of the day and Yetna added five points in that span.
Seton Hall won despite committing 16 turnovers.
The Pirates' next two games come against nationally ranked Big Ten teams. They visit No. 6 Michigan Tuesday for the Gavitt Tipoff Games, then square off with No. 17 Ohio State on Nov. 22 in Fort Myers, Fla.
