Matthew Hurt racked up 22 points as visiting Duke demolished Wake Forest 84-60 for its second victory in a row, rolling Wednesday night in Winston-Salem, N.C.
DJ Steward tacked on 16 points and seven rebounds, Joey Baker notched 12 points and Wendell Moore Jr. added 11 points for Duke (9-8, 7-6 Atlantic Coast Conference), which shot 54.1 percent from the field.
The game included the ejection of first-year Wake Forest coach Steve Forbes late in the first half as he was assessed a pair of technical fouls. The Demon Deacons dropped to 0-4 against in-state Division I opponents, including two losses to Duke.
Ody Oguama posted 14 points and Daivien Williamson scored 12 points for Wake Forest (6-10, 3-10), which was unable to threaten Duke after pushing then-No. 17 Florida State to overtime on Saturday. Ian DuBose, who didn't play in the first meeting with Duke, had 10 points.
The Blue Devils led 45-26 at halftime. Hurt poured in Duke's first 11 points of the second half.
Baker finished with four 3-pointers and Hurt, who shot 8-for-9 from the field, ended up with three treys.
Duke made 11 of 25 attempts from beyond the 3-point arc. Wake Forest was just 7-for-25 from long range.
It was the second dominant road performance in a row for the Blue Devils, who handled North Carolina State on Saturday. Duke is trying to keep its streak of NCAA Tournament appearances alive as the program has been to the postseason event every year since missing the 1995 edition.
Duke, which committed only six turnovers in the game, stormed out to a 29-13 lead, using an 18-2 burst after the score was knotted at 11-11. Five players contributed points to the rally.
The Blue Devils posted a 37-28 rebounding advantage.
Duke takes on first-place Virginia, the country's seventh-ranked team, on Saturday night in Durham, N.C. Wake Forest plays host to NC State on Saturday.
