Grant Sherfield led all scorers with 19 points and made a 3-pointer with 7.1 seconds left to give Nevada a 69-66 victory over Nebraska on Thursday in a Golden Window Classic game at Lincoln, Neb.
After Nebraska's Dalano Banton converted a 3-point play with 54 seconds remaining to put Nebraska ahead 66-64, Sherfield answered with two free throws for Nevada with 43 seconds left.
Desmond Cambridge Jr. then stole the ball for Nevada, setting up Sherfield's game-winning 3-pointer. Banton's 3-pointer with one second left missed off the front of the rim.
Cambridge scored 16 of his 18 points in the first half for Nevada (2-0).
Nebraska (1-1) was led by Banton's 18 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Teddy Allen added 17 points, six rebounds and five steals and Kobe Webster had 13 points.
Nebraska went on a 10-0 run to take a 51-43 lead with 11:15 left in regulation. Nevada missed two field goals, went 0-of-4 at the free-throw line and committed three turnovers in that stretch.
The Wolf Pack later responded with a 15-3 run to take a 62-58 lead with 3:28 remaining. K.J. Hymes had all of his eight points in that stretch.
Nebraska missed 11 straight field goals from when 9:34 remained to when Lat Mayen made a 3-pointer with 1:24 left that cut the lead to 64-63.
Nevada, which trailed by eight points in the first six minutes of the game, went on a 9-2 run late in the first half to take a 35-29 lead into halftime.
Cambridge put Nevada ahead 35-26 with a 3-pointer with 26 seconds left in the half. Webster closed the half with a 3-pointer at the buzzer.
Nebraska shot 25 percent from the field, including 20 percent from beyond the arc, in the first half.
Nevada made 51.9 percent of its shots before halftime. Cambridge made half of Nevada's shots with a 7-of-11 performance from the field. He missed all six of his attempts in the second half.
Nebraska finished shooting 29 percent from the field. The Wolf Pack shot 48 percent.
Nevada dominated the rebounds with a 49-31 advantage. Robby Robinson had nine for the Wolf Pack and Hymes added eight.
