Jalen Wilson recorded a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds Tuesday as No. 5 Kansas weathered several lead changes before edging No. 8 Creighton 73-72 at Lawrence, Kan.

Wilson bombed in a tiebreaking 3-pointer with 40 seconds left to give the Jayhawks a 73-70 lead they maintained until Wilson fouled Marcus Zegarowski on a 3-point attempt with 1.1 seconds left.

The Big East preseason player of the year hit the first two foul shots but missed the third, enabling Kansas (5-1) to win its 11th straight at home.

On a night when Kansas' leading scorer, Ochai Agbaji went scoreless on 0-for-6 shooting, Christian Braun contributed 14 points and David McCormack 13. Braun added six assists.

Neither team led by more than eight. Creighton (3-1) led three times early in the second half before the Jayhawks went on a 13-2 run Braun keyed with two 3-pointers.

Looking to beat Kansas for the first time since 1949, the Bluejays relied on Denzel Mahoney to keep it close down the stretch with seven straight points, including a layup he converted off a steal to make it 70-70 with 1:04 left.

Mahoney scored 19 points and Zegarowski 16 for Creighton, while Christian Bishop added 13 points and a team-high nine boards. Damien Jefferson also scored 13 points.

The biggest lead for either team in the first half was six points, including a 16-10 margin for Creighton as it got off to a fast start.

Kansas answered by canning four straight shots as part of an 11-0 run, and then the game was tied three times before the Jayhawks managed a 39-35 lead at the break.

Wilson scored 13 first-half points, including a 3-pointer at the 2:16 mark and a three-point play with 1:22 left for the Jayhawks' final six points. McCormack added 12 first-half points, going 5-for-8.

Bishop led the Bluejays with nine points at halftime.

Although the two programs are separated by just 190 miles, it marked their first meeting since the 1974 NCAA Tournament. Kansas allowed 2,500 fans to attend after permitting no fans at its first two home games.
