Durand Scott led four players in double figures with 19 points as visiting Miami (FL) broke open a tight game in the final seven minutes for a 76-54 victory over Boston College on Sunday.
Miami’s leading scorer Malcolm Grant, who had missed seven of his first eight shots, keyed a 14-0 run with seven points to turn a tied game into a 63-49 lead with under four minutes left. Grant finished with 16 points, 14 coming in the second half.
Kenny Kadji added 14 points and Reggie Johnson 12 for the Hurricanes (12-7, 3-3 ACC), who have won three of their last four. Miami only turned the ball over five times and had 10 steals, three by Scott.
Matt Humphrey had 13 points to lead Boston College (7-14, 2-5), which has lost four straight. The Eagles finished with 17 turnovers.
Boston College hit five early 3-pointers to take a 31-30 lead, before Johnson scored four of his 10 first-half points to give Miami a 34-31 halftime advantage. Miami was 4-for-16 from behind the 3-point arc in the first half.
Miami has beaten Boston College three straight and six of the last eight meetings.
