Mike Moser led the way with 34 points and 10 rebounds and Chace Stanback came alive in overtime as No. 20 UNLV survived host California-Santa Barbara 94-88 in double overtime on Wednesday.
Anthony Marshall chipped in 13 points and eight assists for the Rebels (8-0), who avoided a letdown after beating No. 1 North Carolina on Saturday.
UNLV was leading by three in the final seconds of regulation, when it elected to put the Gauchos on the free throw line instead of risking a tying 3-pointer. Orlando Johnson hit the first free throw and missed the second, but Greg Somogyi got the offensive rebound and put it back, knotting it at 71-71 at the buzzer.
UC Santa Barbara ended regulation on a 12-2 run, with Johnson accounting for eight points.
The Gauchos were up in the first overtime but Stanback, who recorded only one field goal in regulation, got an offensive rebound and hit the tying 3-pointer with three seconds left. Stanback would score 13 points in the two overtimes and finished with 19.
Moser carried the Rebels through regulation, burying five 3-pointers in the second half and finishing 12 of 18 from the floor.
Johnson finished with 36 points and 10 rebounds for UC Santa Barbara.
