Arizona used a balanced attack to knock off Stanford 67-57 Sunday in Tucson, Ariz.
The game was moved to Sunday after Saturday’s tragic shooting in Tucson that left six people dead and U.S. congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords in critical condition as of Sunday.
Arizona (14-3, 3-1 Pac-10) built an 11-point halftime lead and maintained a double-digit margin for much of the second half. Stanford (9-5, 2-1 Pac-10) rallied to get within five at the four-minute mark, but never got any closer and saw its three-game winning streak snapped.
Jamelle Horne led the Wildcats with 16 points, helping overcome a foul-plagued performance from leading scorer Derrick Williams, who finished with 14 points.
Josh Owens led the Cardinal with 18 points, and Jeremy Green added 15.
Stanford will try to bounce back at home against Washington Thursday, while Arizona hosts Arizona State Saturday.
