Derwin Kitchen led the way with 22 points and 10 rebounds as Florida State knocked off No. 1 Duke, 66-61, on Wednesday.

Chris Singleton added 18 points for the Seminoles (12-5, 2-1 ACC), who held the Blue Devils to 31-percent shooting in earning the signature win to highlight their NCAA Tournament resume.

Florida State trailed, 24-21, after Nolan Smith hit a 3-pointer for Duke (15-1, 2-1) late in the first half, but Kitchen responded right away, tying it with a 3-pointer 26 seconds later. Bernard James added a pair of layups to send Florida State into the break with a 28-24 edge.

Kitchen and Singleton hit back-to-back 3-pointers in the first two minutes after the half to push it to 34-26, and the Seminoles led by as much as 40-29 six minutes into the second half. The Blue Devils began to claw their way back, knotting it at 42-42 when Andre Dawkins hit three free throws, but Florida State did not fold, getting five straight points from Kitchen to regain control and refusing to relinquish the lead down the stretch.

Duke, which is the lone ranked team in a down year for the ACC, had won 25 straight games, the longest active streak in the NCAA and the second longest in school history.
