Nebraska continued its hot shooting on Saturday for its seventh consecutive win. The Cornhuskers mauled Eastern Washington 72-42 at the Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln, Neb. The win extends their perfect 5-0 record all-time against the Eagles. Nebraska hasn’t won seven consecutive games since 1997-98. The streak is the longest for it in the Big 12 era.
The Cornhuskers (9-2) shot 28 of 56 (50 percent), the second consecutive game they have done so. They were 24 of 48 in their 70-56 win over TCU last Saturday. Center Jorge Brian Diaz led the Cornhuskers with 14 points. They also received double digits from guards Lance Jeter and Caleb Walker. Altogether eleven different players scored.
Guard Kevin Winford provided 14 points to lead the Eagles (3-7). That was one-third of their total output. The remainder of the starters combined for 18 points, while the bench added 10.
Their biggest trouble was 3-point shooting. Eastern Washington went 7 of 31 (22.6 percent) from deep range. Nebraska wasn’t much better, going 4 of 18 (22.2 percent) but didn’t make as many attempts.
