Ramone Moore scored a career-high 30 points to lead Temple to a 68-65 upset of No. 10 Georgetown, Thursday in Philadelphia.
Temple led by seven at half, but Georgetown stayed within striking distance throughout the second half. The Hoyas were down one with the ball and 15 seconds to play. But Hollis Thomas missed a contested short scoop shot, sending Georgetown (8-1) to its first loss of the season.
Rahlir Jefferson hit four straight free throws in the final two minutes to help Temple hold off the Hoyas. The Owls (6-2) now have won three straight, including impressive wins over Maryland and Georgetown. The win was Temple coach Fran Dunphy's 400th.
Moore hit 12-of-18 shots and seemingly had an answer for every Georgetown run.
The Hoyas were led by Jason Clark's 15 points. Austin Freeman and Julian Vaughn each added 14.
Temple hosts Akron Sunday. Georgetown will look to bounce back at home against Appalachian State Sunday.
