Heat 96, Bulls 84: Hassan Whiteside contributed 14 points, 13 rebounds and a franchise-best 12 blocked shots as visiting Miami knocked off Chicago.

Dwyane Wade scored 12 of his 26 points in the final quarter and Chris Bosh added 20 points for the Heat. Luol Deng had 15 points and 10 rebounds in his first game in Chicago as a visiting player and Mario Chalmers also scored 15 points.

Derrick Rose scored 19 points and Aaron Brooks made four 3-pointers while scoring 17 for the Bulls, who had a two-game winning streak halted. Pau Gasol had 13 points, 17 rebounds and four blocked shots and Taj Gibson had 11 points and eight rebounds.

A four-point play by Brooks pulled Chicago within 83-76 with 6:36 remaining before Whiteside slammed home three dunks for Miami’s next six points to get the lead back to 11. The Bulls moved within 91-84 on Gibson’s tip-in with 1:59 remaining but didn’t score another point as the Heat held on.

Miami led by as many as 12 in the first half before settling for a 48-38 lead at the break. The advantage reached 14 early in the third quarter and stayed in double digits for most of the period as the Heat took a 74-62 edge into the final stanza.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Gasol has six consecutive double-doubles and leads the league with 27. … Whiteside’s 12 blocks are the most in the NBA this season, and Alonzo Mourning held the former Heat record of nine. … Bulls F Mike Dunleavy (ankle) sat out his 13th consecutive game.
