Mavericks 97, Suns 94: O.J. Mayo scored a game-high 23 points, including a tiebreaking jump shot with 34.6 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter as visiting Dallas rebounded from an embarrassing loss 24 hours earlier.
Darren Collison and Brandan Wright each contributed 16 points while Chris Kaman added 15 for the Mavericks, who were trounced by the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday. Dallas is 1-1 on its three-game road trip.
The Mavericks were ahead by 10 with 5:40 left in the fourth before the Suns used a 16-6 spurt to forge an 87-87 tie with 48.5 seconds to play. But Mayo hit a jumper less than 14 seconds later, and Collison and Vince Carter sank four free throws apiece to seal the win.
Markieff Morris recorded 15 points and 17 rebounds, Goran Dragic also scored 15 points and Luis Scola added 13 and nine boards for the Suns, who have lost five in a row.
Phoenix opened the game with an 11-1 run and led by four points at halftime. The Mavericks began the second half with a 23-4 burst to take a 63-48 lead with 3:50 remaining in the third quarter, with Kaman and Mayo scoring six points apiece.
GAME NOTEBOOK: It was "Satisfaction Guaranteed Night" at the US Airways Center, a promotion in which the Suns offered fans their money back if they were not completely satisfied with the experience of Thursday's game. ...
