Grizzlies 106, Lakers 98: Rudy Gay scored 15 of his 21 points in the first half and Zach Randolph recorded his 11th double-double in as many games as host Memphis subdued Los Angeles.
Mike Conley Jr. had 19 points and Marc Gasol outscored his brother Pau, 14-6, as the Grizzlies posted their ninth win in 10 outings.
Kobe Bryant entered the fourth quarter shooting just 4-of-15 from the field, but scored 14 of his 30 points in the period. Veterans Metta World Peace and Antawn Jamison added 16 points apiece for the Lakers, who suffered their second straight loss.
After Bryant's 3-pointer brought Los Angeles to within five at 95-90, Randolph added a free throw before Tony Allen's layup put the Grizzlies comfortably ahead again.
Randolph, who had 17 points and a team-high 12 rebounds, made sure that Memphis didn't show any signs of a hangover following its 97-92 loss to Denver on Monday. The center scored nine points as the Grizzlies overcame an early 8-4 deficit to post a 34-18 lead after the opening quarter.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Memphis' Darrell Arthur received a standing ovation upon his entrance into the game. Arthur was competing for the first time since May 2011 due to an Achilles' tendon injury and a broken leg. ... The Lakers fell to 0-5 when Pau Gasol fails to score more than 10 points. He did not play in the fourth quarter. ... Memphis held a decisive 40-24 edge in points in the paint.
