Russell Westbrook scored all 13 of Oklahoma City’s points in the third overtime as the Thunder overcame Kevin Durant’s absence to defeat the host New Jersey Nets 123-120 in triple overtime on Wednesday.
Westbrook had 38 points, 15 rebounds and nine assists for the Thunder (13-6), who also received a season-high 37 points from Jeff Green.
New Jersey (6-13) was unable to get off a potential game-tying shot at the end of the third overtime.
Green hit three free throws with 4.6 seconds left in the second overtime to force the third extra session.
Brook Lopez had 28 points and 11 rebounds and Jordan Farmar had a season-high 28 points and nine assists for New Jersey. Anthony Morrow added 25 points.
Oklahoma City nearly won in regulation time but Morrow hit a buzzer-beating 3-point basket to force the first overtime. The Nets had a 100-94 lead in the first overtime after Morrow’s basket with 2:29 to play but Westbrook hit back-to-back baskets in the final minute to tie the score at 100 and prompt a second overtime.
Durant, who leads the NBA in scoring with a 27.3 average, missed the contest with a sprained knee that has bothered him since Sunday.
New Jersey played without second-leading scorer Devin Harris, who injured a knee on Monday against the New York Knicks.
