Eugenio Suarez homered and had three RBIs, and Geraldo Perdomo added three hits, two runs and one RBI to lead the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 7-5 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday night in Phoenix.
Christian Walker forced in the tiebreaking run by walking with the bases loaded in the eighth and Paul Sewald ended a string of three straight blown saves by retiring the side in order in the ninth for his 12th save for Arizona.
Ketel Marte also homered for the Diamondbacks, who beat Atlanta for the first time in six meetings this season. Marte and Suarez each had two hits and two runs.
Marcell Ozuna hit a two-run homer and Travis d'Arnaud had a two-run double for the Braves, who had a four-game winning streak halted. Austin Riley had three hits for Atlanta.
With the game tied at 5-5, Corbin Carroll led off the Arizona eighth inning with a double against Joe Jimenez (1-3). Marte's infield single put runners on the corners before Jimenez hit Joc Pederson with a pitch to load the bases.
Jimenez missed with a full-count fastball to walk Walker and give the Diamondbacks a 6-5 lead. Perdomo later ripped a line-drive sacrifice fly to right to score Marte and give Arizona a two-run lead.
Ryan Thompson (5-3) entered with Arizona leading by two runs in the eighth and quickly gave up the lead.
Riley led off with a booming double to deep center. One out later, Ozuna hit his 24th homer of the season, a tying two-run blast over the high wall in center.
Arizona took a 5-3 lead with two runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Perdomo ended Charlie Morton's night with a one-out single, bringing Pierce Johnson into the game. Suarez greeted him with a double into the left field corner to score Perdomo.
Two batters later, Jose Herrera singled to right to score Suarez.
Morton allowed four runs and five hits over 6 1/3 innings. He struck out five and walked none.
Arizona's Slade Cecconi gave up three runs and four hits over four innings. He struck out three and walked two.
Atlanta moved ahead in the second inning as Ozuna hit a leadoff single and Eddie Rosario hit a one-out ground-rule double. Then d'Arnaud delivered a two-run double to right to score both runners.
The Diamondbacks tied the score in the bottom of the inning as Perdomo hit a two-out double and Suarez followed with a 452-foot blast into the second deck in left. The homer was Suarez's eighth of the season.
Atlanta regained the lead in the third on Matt's Olson sacrifice fly to right.
Arizona knotted the score in the bottom of the inning on Marte's 444-foot, two-out homer to center, his 18th of the season.
