Bryan Reynolds and Rowdy Tellez each homered twice, including one grand slam apiece, and the Pittsburgh Pirates hit seven home runs in a 14-2 victory over the visiting New York Mets on Friday.

Jack Suwinski, Yasmani Grandal and Michael A. Taylor each hit solo homers for Pittsburgh, which tied a franchise record for homers in a game.

The Pirates outhit the Mets 16-5 in the opener of a four-game series. Taylor had four hits and Reynolds finished 4-for-5 with six RBIs.

Paul Skenes (5-0) allowed two runs on four hits with two walks and eight strikeouts over seven innings while throwing a career-high 107 pitches.

Jeff McNeil homered and Pete Alonso had two hits for the Mets, who have lost three straight games and five of their last seven. New York led 2-0 before the Pirates scored 14 unanswered runs.

New York starter Luis Severino (5-3) gave up seven runs on nine hits over six-plus innings. He walked two and struck out three.

The Mets set a season high in runs allowed and tied a franchise record by giving up seven home runs.

McNeil broke a scoreless tie when he began the third inning by depositing Skenes' 0-2 fastball into the right field bleachers. The 390-foot homer was McNeil's fifth this season.

The Mets tacked on another run in the fourth inning. Alonso hit a leadoff double, moved to third on DJ Stewart's flyout, and scored on a fielder's-choice grounder by Jose Iglesias.

Pittsburgh pulled even with a pair of solo homers by Tellez and Suwinski in the bottom of the inning.

Reynolds belted a two-run homer with one out in the fifth inning to put the Pirates ahead 4-2.

Severino loaded the bases with no outs in the seventh inning and was replaced by Jake Diekman, whom Reynolds greeted with his third career grand slam.

The 413-foot blast was Reynolds' 16th homer this season and marked his sixth career multi-homer game.

Pittsburgh tacked on six runs on five hits in the eighth inning. Grandal and Taylor hit back-to-back homers against Ty Adcock, who loaded the bases before Tellez hit his slam. It was his fourth home run in his last five games.
