Zac Gallen pitched seven innings of one-run ball, and Emmanuel Rivera and Alek Thomas each delivered three hits and an RBI as the Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the host Milwaukee Brewers 5-1 on Wednesday afternoon.
The Diamondbacks secured a victory in the three-game series with their fourth win in six games.
Arizona improved to 2-1 on a seven-game road trip that is set to continue with a Thursday matinee makeup game in Washington before the team flies cross-country to open a series in San Francisco on Friday night.
Rivera and Thomas had run-scoring singles around a Brewers error in the sixth, giving Arizona the lead for good.
Gabriel Moreno (double) and Geraldo Perdomo (single) contributed RBI hits in a two-run eighth that put the game away before Rivera singled home a run in the ninth.
Milwaukee was outhit 9-3 on the way to its eighth loss in 12 games.
Gallen (9-2), who had lost his two previous starts at Milwaukee, allowed one run and three hits with one walk and four strikeouts.
Scott McGough struck out the side on 11 pitches in a perfect eighth before striking out another in a 1-2-3 ninth for his fourth save.
Milwaukee snapped a scoreless tie with one out in the fifth, as Raimel Tapia connected for a solo home run to right-center field. It marked the fourth straight start in which Gallen allowed a home run following a streak of 10 successive outings without yielding one.
Joey Wiemer's third-inning double was Milwaukee's only other extra-base hit.
Brewers starter Julio Teheran took a no-decision after spacing two hits, four walks and three strikeouts over five shutout innings.
Teheran continued his tear with the Brewers, whom he joined in late May after opting out of a minor league contract with the San Diego Padres. In six starts with Milwaukee covering 35 1/3 innings, the right-hander has limited opponents to a .192 batting average and pitched to a 1.53 ERA.
Elvis Peguero (1-1) took the loss, allowing two runs (one earned) and two hits in 2/3 of an inning.
