Rookie Mauricio Dubon collected a single, a double and a home run to help San Francisco build a lead, and the Giants used a four-run eighth inning to pull away for an 8-3 victory over the visiting Colorado Rockies in the finale of a three-game series on Thursday afternoon.
Mike Yastrzemski came off the bench to drive in two runs, one on his 21st homer of the season, as the Giants gave outgoing manager Bruce Bochy a 2,003rd career win with just three games remaining.
Bochy, whose record in 13 seasons with the Giants is 1,052-1,051, will wrap up his 25-year career against the rival Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
San Francisco (77-82) won the last two games against Colorado (68-91) after the Rockies won the series opener in 16 innings.
The Giants never trailed in the game but were tied 2-2 tie until Alex Dickerson doubled with one out in bottom of the fifth and raced home when Dubon's single was misplayed by Rockies right fielder Sam Hilliard.
Dubon then added his fourth homer of the season in the seventh, increasing San Francisco's lead to 4-2 and capping his third three-hit game of the season.
The Rockies got within 4-3 in the eighth when Trevor Story, who had doubled, scored on a wild pitch. But Yastrzemski doubled home a run and Aramis Garcia added a two-run single as the Giants finally broke open a close game.
The Giants won despite losing starting pitcher Tyler Beede to a strained right side in the fourth inning. He threw 3 1/3 shutout innings, striking out seven without allowing a hit or a walk.
Sam Coonrod (5-1), who pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings, got the win.
Rockies starter Kyle Freeland was pulled after allowing just one run on three hits in three innings. He walked one and did not record a strikeout.
Jesus Tinoco (0-3), who allowed two runs in two innings, took the loss.
Dubon, who also recorded three-hit games earlier this month against the Dodgers and Miami Marlins, and Yastrzemski scored twice apiece. Kevin Pillar had two hits for the Giants, who won the season series 12-7 over the Rockies.
Ryan McMahon and Yonathan Daza had two hits each for the Rockies, who return home to complete the season with a three-game series against the playoff-bound Milwaukee Brewers.
