HOUSTON -- In the event that a three-game offensive slump altered opinions about the Houston Astros' credentials, they burnished their reputation Friday night.

Yuli Gurriel reached base five times, Tyler White had four hits and his second multi-homer game, and the Astros bludgeoned the Toronto Blue Jays 16-7 at Minute Maid Park.

Gurriel finished 3-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBIs. He clubbed his 14th home run, finished a triple shy of the cycle, and added two walks for his first career multi-walk game.

White, recalled from Triple-A Fresno on July 23, finished 4-for-5 with five RBIs and added a double and a single. His homers were his first of the season with Houston (70-39).

Josh Reddick also had a three-hit game as the Astros banged out 18 hits -- 10 for extra bases. Marwin Gonzalez hit his 20th home run and Alex Bregman belted his 13th. The Astros scored seven runs while dropping the final three games of their series with the Tampa Bay Rays.

"First and foremost, we have a really good offense," Astros manager A.J. Hinch said. "I think sometimes we've been so good for so long we get a little bit ahead of ourselves when we get shut down. I don't want the narrative to get out there that we're not a good team, not a good offense."

Toronto (51-58) didn't lag in the power department, slugging three homers off Astros starter Brad Peacock (10-1), who entered the game having given up just two home runs all season.

While Kendrys Morales smacked his 21st home run in the fourth inning, Russell Martin his 12th dinger in the fifth and Ryan Goins his fifth homer in the sixth, Peacock was buoyed by ample run support and took over the staff lead in victories.

Peacock allowed seven runs, four after the Astros' nine-run outburst, and nine hits with two walks and six strikeouts in six innings.

"They are, if not the best in baseball, one of the best," Goins said. "They have power, they can run, there's not an easy out, one through nine.

"They got a couple guys filling in today, and they still put up 16 runs, missing 1, 2, 3 in their lineup. If they're not the best in baseball, they're one of the best, that's for sure."

Gurriel almost single-handedly put the Astros in position for their eruption in the fourth inning. He was 2-for-2 with three RBIs by the close of the third inning, driving in all three Houston runs with his home run in the first inning and an RBI single with two outs in the third.

Gurriel did that damage against Blue Jays starter Cesar Valdez (1-1), but Valdez wasn't around when Gurriel walked with two outs in the fourth. By then, the Astros had stretched their lead to 7-2, and Gonzalez followed the Gurriel walk with home run, a three-run shot to right field.

Houston tacked on two more RBI singles in that inning, with White and Jake Marisnick adding to the deluge. By the close of the inning, six different Astros had RBIs against three pitchers.

"It was a good night," White said. "Everyone was hitting tonight. It was contagious that one inning. We scored nine, and most of them (seven runs) with two outs. We went out there and tried to see good pitches and put good swings on a couple good pitches."

Said Blue Jays manager John Gibbons of the Astros, who were without All-Stars Jose Altuve (rest), Carlos Correa (thumb) and George Springer (quad): "They can do that. They're missing three of their top dogs, too. Great hitting park, and we didn't pitch particularly well."

NOTES: Blue Jays RHP Danny Barnes was reinstated from the 10-day disabled list after missing 10 games with a right shoulder impingement. The Blue Jays also recalled C Raffy Lopez from Triple-A Buffalo, where he hit .293 with 12 home runs and 34 RBIs in 59 games. Barnes and Lopez filled the roster spots of RHP Joe Biagini, who was optioned to Buffalo, and C Miguel Montero, who landed on the DL with a right groin strain. ... The Astros recalled RHP James Hoyt from Triple-A Fresno. ... Astros OF George Springer took the day off rehabbing his left quad strain. Springer will intensify workouts starting Saturday and, with the Astros off Monday, could be reinstated from the 10-day disabled list on Tuesday against the Chicago White Sox.
