BOSTON -- The Baltimore Orioles rode the pitching of ace Chris Tillman and three relievers to a 4-1 victory over the Boston Red Sox on a chilly Saturday at Fenway Park.

Tillman (2-1) pitched the first 5 2/3 innings to raise his career record against Boston to 8-3 overall and 4-1 at Fenway.

Fellow right-handers Brad Brach and Darren O'Day took the game through the eighth inning before closer Zach Britton finished the seven-hitter by pitching a perfect ninth that included two strikeouts for his fourth save of the young season.

Britton came on with a little extra breathing room after first baseman Chris Davis hit a two-run homer in the top of the inning -- his second home run of the season.

Boston right-hander Clay Buchholz, shelled at Yankee Stadium in his previous start, danced in and out of trouble but fell to 1-2 after allowing 11 hits and two runs in six innings.

Third baseman Manny Machado's RBI groundout was followed by an RBI single by catcher Caleb Joseph as the Orioles (6-5) scored two runs on five hits in the fourth inning. Then in the next inning, they wasted three hits and a walk.

Red Sox DH David Ortiz had three hits and a walk in the loss. He doubled to lead off the fifth inning for his third hit, moved to third on a groundout and scored when Tillman flubbed his slow grounder.

The loss dropped the Red Sox to 7-4, with two losses in their last three games.

Last Sunday, Buchholz gave up 10 hits and 10 runs (nine earned) in 3 1/3 innings in New York. The hits kept coming Saturday, but the Orioles wasted all kinds of chances and the game remained close in the second straight low-scoring duel between the division rivals.

Buchholz gave up two runs and five hits in the fourth inning but delivered two strikeouts with the bases loaded. Three more singles -- one of them a butchered fly ball by Hanley Ramirez at the wall in left field -- loaded the bases again and Buchholz got a 3-2-2 double play. After a walk reloaded the bases, second baseman Ryan Flaherty struck out to kill the inning.

NOTES: Orioles 2B Jonathan Schoop was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right knee injury suffered tripping over first base Friday night. 3B Jimmy Paredes (back) was recalled from a rehab stint. ... Baseball America reported Boston signed 42-year-old RHP Denny Bautista to a minor league contract. Manager John Farrell said he was unaware of the move. Bautista last pitched in the majors in 2010. ... The umpires felt the high fastball at Pablo Sandoval showed intent after Sandoval's hard slide earlier in the game. ...
