Ryan Zimmerman blasted a two-run homer and Adam LaRoche had two hits and scored twice for the Nationals, who have won 12 of their last 17. Rafael Soriano (2-0) allowed Weeks’ game-tying single with one out in the ninth before receiving the victory when Werth deposited a two-out double to the left-field corner off Rob Wooten (1-4) in the bottom half.
Ian Desmond gave Washington an early lead with an RBI single in the second off Yovani Gallardo, who allowed four runs while striking out six over six frames. The Brewers lost for the 13th time in their last 16 contests.
Milwaukee capitalized on two walks by Gio Gonzalez in the third and scored twice before moving ahead 3-1 in the fourth when Jean Segura belted a leadoff double and later scored on Carlos Gomez’s groundout. Gonzalez yielded three runs on four hits and three walks over 3 1/3 innings.
The Nationals responded in the fourth on Zimmerman’s two-run homer before taking 4-3 lead when Jose Lobaton doubled with two outs and scored on Gallardo’s wild pitch. Washington recovered from Soriano's third blown save in 25 opportunities.
