Angels 5, Rangers 4: Howie Kendrick went 3-for-4 with a homer and Albert Pujols also went deep as visiting Los Angeles held on to extend its winning streak to four games.

Kole Calhoun drove in a pair of runs and Chris Iannetta plated one while Kendrick and Erick Aybar each scored twice for the Angels, who pulled even with Oakland atop the American League West. Matt Shoemaker (11-4) allowed two runs and four hits while striking out six in 5 2/3 innings while Huston Street worked a perfect ninth for his 33rd save of the season and ninth in as many opportunities since joining Los Angeles.

Shin-Soo Choo homered and Alex Rios recorded two RBIs for the Rangers, who suffered their fourth straight loss. J.P. Arencibia also drove in a run while Colby Lewis (8-10) surrendered five runs and 10 hits despite registering a season-high 10 strikeouts over six frames.

Pujols opened the scoring with a two-out solo blast in the first inning and Kendrick led off the second with a shot to center field while Iannetta delivered an RBI double later in the frame for a 3-0 lead. Calhoun extended the advantage in the fourth with a two-out, two-run single before Texas began its comeback attempt in the bottom half.

Choo kicked off the inning with his 12th homer and Adrian Beltre drew a two-out walk before Leonys Martin reached on an infield single. Arencibia followed with an RBI base hit and Rios delivered a two-run single in the seventh, but the Rangers were unable to complete the comeback.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Calhoun went 2-for-5, giving him his sixth multi-hit performance in his last seven games. ... Angels RHP Mike Morin (foot) was activated from the disabled list prior to the contest and struggled, hitting a batter and uncorking a wild pitch while allowing two runs and one hit in one inning of relief. ... Lewis' best moment of the night came in the third inning, when he struck out Mike Trout, Pujols and Josh Hamilton - all looking.
