White Sox 7, Twins 6 (11): Leury Garcia scored the winning run on a walk-off wild pitch as Chicago battled back to stun Minnesota.
Garcia reached on a bunt single off Samuel Deduno (0-1) leading off the 11th and moved up on a balk before heading to third on a wild pitch and scoring on Deduno’s second wild pitch. Garcia singled in the first of a two-run ninth to force the extra frames and Alexei Ramirez and Adam Eaton each drove in two runs to power the White Sox.
Trevor Plouffe went 3-for-5 with three RBIs, Jason Kubel doubled twice, scored two runs and added an RBI while Kurt Suzuki tacked on an RBI double in the ninth for the Twins. Glen Perkins surrendered two runs on three hits in the ninth to suffer the blown save after Kevin Correia worked six solid frames.
Paul Konerko led off the bottom of the ninth with a single and pinch runner Adrian Nieto moved to second on Dayan Viciedo’s one-out pinch-hit single before Garcia singled in a run. The runners moved up on Perkins’ wild pitch and Viciedo scored the tying run on a fielder's choice grounder by Eaton.
Chicago left-hander Scott Downs came on to start the seventh and walked Joe Mauer before Nate Jones entered and walked Josh Willingham to put the first two runners on. Kubel ripped a ground-rule double to right to plate the tying run before Plouffe lined a two-run single into right to put the Twins on top 5-3.
GAME NOTEBOOK: White Sox 3B Conor Gillaspie (flu) was scratched from the original lineup, sliding Marcus Semien over to third and giving Garcia his first start at second. … Chicago RHP Felipe Paulino made his first start since June 2012 and allowed two runs - one earned - on seven hits in 5 1/3 innings, and Ronald Belisario (1-0) grabbed the win in relief. … Minnesota manager Ron Gardenhire remained stuck at 998 career wins.
