Mets 3, Marlins 1 (Game 2): Daisuke Matsuzaka scattered two hits over seven innings and Daniel Murphy and Lucas Duda belted back-to-back homers to lead off the third as host New York salvaged a split of a doubleheader.

Murphy collected two hits and scored on rookie Wilmer Flores' RBI single in the first inning. Duda also had two hits for the Mets, who rebounded from a 3-0 setback in the opener to defeat their National League East rival for just the seventh time in 18 meetings.

After struggling mightily in his first three outings with New York, Matsuzaka (1-3) put forth his second straight strong effort and posted his first win since Aug. 22, 2012. The 33-year-old overcame Justin Ruggiano's one-out homer in the fourth inning to strike out three during his 91-pitch outing.

Pedro Feliciano and Vic Black combined to strike out the side in the eighth inning before LaTroy Hawkins worked a tidy ninth for his 10th save.

Murphy gave New York a 2-0 lead after jumping on a 1-2 curveball from Jacob Turner (3-7) and depositing it over the wall in right-center field for his 11th homer. Duda followed and promptly drilled a 1-2 fastball to the same location for his 14th homer - and second in as many nights.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Turner suffered his sixth straight loss and extended his winless stretch to 11 games after permitting three runs on five hits in as many innings. The 22-year-old, who is 0-5 on the road, has allowed five of his 11 homers in his last three outings. ... New York SS Ruben Tejada doubled in the second inning to end an 0-for-9 stretch since returning from Triple-A. ... Ruggiano was 0-for-8 in the series prior to his 17th homer of the season.
