Blue Jays 4, Rays 3 (10): Jose Bautista homered twice and added the game-winning single in the 10th inning as host Toronto ended a long series drought against Tampa Bay.
After Colby Rasmus reached on an infield single and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt and a groundout, Mark DeRosa drew a five-pitch walk off Cesar Ramos (1-1). Kyle Farnsworth came on in relief and jumped ahead 0-2 before Bautista flared a single to right field for his fourth hit of the game.
Bautista's heroics made a winner out of Aaron Loup (2-3), who pitched a scoreless 10th inning after Bautista belted a game-tying home run in the ninth off Tampa Bay closer Fernando Rodney. Toronto took two of three from the Rays, earning its first victory in the last 15 head-to-head series.
Trailing 1-0, the Rays jumped ahead with two runs in the third off Toronto starter Mark Buehrle. Jose Molina came around to score after Maicer Izturis' barehanded attempt to snag Ryan Roberts' chopper to second base failed, and Ben Zobrist followed with a run-scoring single to shallow left field.
Bautista evened things in the fourth with a blast well into the second deck in left field. After a James Loney single up the middle plated Evan Longoria with the go-ahead run in the ninth, Bautista electrified the Rogers Centre crowd with a blast to left off Rodney, who suffered his fourth blown save.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Buehrle limited the Rays to two runs on four hits over seven innings while lowering his ERA to 5.90. Tampa Bay counterpart Jeremy Hellickson posted the same line over eight frames to see his ERA dip to 5.37. ... Longoria's ninth-inning double extended his hitting streak to 16 games. ... Toronto resumes its nine-game homestand with the opener of a four-game series with the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday, while Tampa Bay has an off-day before hosting a weekend set with the New York Yankees.
