Giants 4, Pirates 0: Pablo Sandoval drilled a two-run triple and Ryan Vogelsong worked eight masterful innings as host San Francisco earned a split of the four-game series.
Buster Posey recorded two hits and an RBI while Joaquin Arias added a run-scoring double for the Giants, who completed a 3-4 homestand.
Andrew McCutchen, Andrew Lambo and pinch hitter Felix Pie registered the only hits for Pittsburgh, which remained even with St. Louis atop the National League Central. The loss completed the Pirates' 4-3 road trip.
Vogelsong (3-4) limited Pittsburgh to a pair of singles while walking one and striking out five in his longest outing of the season. A.J. Burnett (6-9) nearly matched Vogelsong before coming apart in the eighth. The Pirates right-hander yielded four runs and eight hits over 7 1/3 innings.
Posey got San Francisco on the board in the third with an RBI single and began the eighth-inning rally with a leadoff base hit. Sandoval hit his first triple of the year three batters later to plate a pair and scored on Arias' double off reliever Tony Watson.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Burnett failed in his attempt to win back-to-back starts for the second time this season. ... Vogelsong's victory was just his second in five career starts against the Pirates. ... Sandoval has recorded at least two RBIs in five of his last 10 contests.
