Rangers 4, Angels 3: Alex Rios homered in the first inning and snapped a tie in the seventh with an RBI double as visiting Texas salvaged the finale of the three-game series.
Elvis Andrus also drove in two runs for the Rangers, who posted their second win in seven contests and remained 1 1/2 games behind first-place Oakland in the American League West.
Alexi Ogando (6-4) tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings and Joe Nathan worked a perfect ninth for his 39th save.
Rios opened the scoring with a two-out solo blast off Jason Vargas, but Los Angeles took a 3-1 lead as Kole Calhoun hit a solo shot in the second and Andrew Romine delivered a two-run double in the fourth. Andrus had an RBI single in the fifth and forged a tie in the seventh with a sacrifice fly right before Rios plated Ian Kinsler with his double off Michael Kohn (1-2).
Calhoun and J.B. Shuck had two hits apiece for the Angels, who lost for just the fourth time in 16 games.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Vargas allowed two runs and six hits while striking out eight in six innings. Counterpart Nick Tepesch lasted just 3 1/3 frames, yielding two runs and four hits. ...
