Athletics 6, Angels 0: Bartolo Colon tossed a four-hit shutout and Eric Sogard belted a two-run homer as visiting Oakland salvaged the finale of the three-game series.

Brandon Moss collected three hits and an RBI for the American League West-leading Athletics, who scored more than three runs for the first time in nine games.

Colon (13-3) yielded four singles and walked one while striking out five en route to his 12th career shutout and third this season. The 40-year-old right-hander, who has won 10 of his last 11 decisions, has pitched 35 complete games in the major leagues.

Oakland gave Colon all the offensive support he needed in the third inning, when Chris Young led off with a double and Sogard followed with a blast to right field. Moss capped a two-run fifth with an RBI single and Coco Crisp plated a run with a grounder during a two-run sixth.

Jerome Williams (5-6) surrendered six runs - four earned - and eight hits over five innings as he fell to 0-4 in his last seven starts. Chris Iannetta recorded half of the hits by the Angels, who committed three errors while having their four-game home winning streak snapped.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Oakland LF Yoenis Cespedes missed his third consecutive game with a sore left wrist. ...
