Angels 5, Yankees 2: Chris Iannetta drove in a pair of runs and C.J. Wilson tossed seven solid innings as host Los Angeles continued its recent success against New York.
Mark Trumbo went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored and Albert Pujols also collected three hits for the Angels, who have won 26 of their last 38 meetings with the Yankees.
Wilson (5-5) allowed two runs and five hits en route to just his second win in seven decisions. Kevin Jepsen worked out of a jam in the eighth inning and Ernesto Frieri pitched a perfect ninth for his 15th save in 16 opportunities.
After David Adams' two-run single in the top of the fourth gave New York a 2-1 lead, Iannetta forged a tie in the bottom half with a sacrifice fly. He put the Angels ahead for good two frames later, when his single off Andy Pettitte (5-4) plated Trumbo.
Pettitte was reached for four runs and 11 hits over seven innings as the Yankees suffered their fourth straight loss and fell to 3-5 on their 10-game West Coast road trip.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Yankees LF Vernon Wells threw out Pujols at the plate in the sixth inning, marking the second day in a row the veteran outfielder saved a run in that fashion. Wells also gunned down Oakland's Brandon Moss at home in the 15th frame of Thursday's 18-inning loss. ... New York has scored only two runs in three straight games and four of its last five. It has crossed the plate a total of 16 times over its last seven contests. ... The Angels kicked off their season-high 10-game homestand with their second consecutive victory following a four-game losing streak.
