Phillies 7, Marlins 2: Kyle Kendrick continued his impressive start with seven solid innings as host Philadelphia recovered from a miserable series in Cleveland.

Domonic Brown and Ryan Howard hit solo homers for the Phillies, who were outscored 20-2 in losing a pair against the Indians before returning home. Kendrick (3-1) helped them recover by allowing two runs and fanning five while dropping his ERA to 2.43.

Alex Sanabia (2-4) surrendered four runs -- two earned -- in five innings in losing his third straight start. He was hurt by an error by second baseman Donovan Solano and a passed ball in Philadelphia's two-run fifth.

Brown's fourth homer made it 1-1 in the second and Howard's fourth put the Phillies up 2-1 in the fourth. Chase Utley had a sacrifice fly and Jimmy Rollins came in on the passed ball as the Phillies grabbed a 4-1 advantage in the fifth.

Justin Ruggiano homered to lead off the sixth for the Marlins, but Brown had an RBI single and scored on a wild pitch as Philadelphia pulled away with three more in the eighth.
