White Sox 6, Yankees 5 (12): Alejandro De Aza hit a two-run triple as host Chicago staged its second two-out rally of the night in the 12th inning to complete a three-game sweep.
New York was an out away from victory before pinch-hitter Adam Dunn hit a two-out RBI single in the ninth off Mariano Rivera, handing the legendary closer his third blown save of the season. After each team threatened but failed in the 11th, Robinson Cano drilled a 1-2 pitch from Dylan Axelrod (4-8) into the seats in right-center field for his first blast since July 10 and a 5-4 Yankees lead.
Adam Warren (1-2) retired the first two batters in the bottom of the 12th before Tyler Flowers singled off the pitcher's glove, keeping the White Sox alive. Alexei Ramirez followed with a base hit and De Aza ripped the game-winning triple to center field.
Ramirez collected three hits and Gordon Beckham homered and drove in two runs for Chicago, which has won three straight following a 10-game losing streak.
Alfonso Soriano belted a two-run homer and Eduardo Nunez went 3-for-4 with a solo blast for the Yankees, who completed a 2-6 road trip with their eighth loss in 11 overall contests. New York fell seven games behind in the race for the second American League wild-card spot.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Soriano's home run was his second in 11 games since being acquired from the Chicago Cubs. ... Chicago's Dayan Viciedo returned to the lineup after missing Tuesday's contest with a jammed left thumb. The 24-year-old Cuban, who was injured while diving for a ball in Monday's series opener, served as the designated hitter and went 0-for-3. ... The Major League Baseball Players Association filed a formal appeal of New York 3B Alex Rodriguez's 211-game suspension, which he received Monday and was scheduled to begin Thursday. The troubled superstar, who was given the punishment as a result of his involvement in the Biogenesis scandal, is eligible to play until a ruling is made by an arbitrator. Rodriguez went 1-for-5 with a walk on Wednesday.
