Nationals 5, White Sox 2: Bryce Harper hit his fourth home run and Ian Desmond went 3-for-4 and scored twice as Washington improved to 5-0 at home.
Danny Espinosa was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for the Nationals while starter Jordan Zimmermann (2-0) limited Chicago to two runs on seven hits over seven innings. Rafael Soriano worked around a two-out single in the ninth for his fourth save.
Harper led off the fourth with a blast into the second deck in right, and Desmond doubled and scored on Espinosa's single later in the inning. Ryan Zimmerman snapped a 0-for-14 skid with an RBI single in the fifth to make it 3-1.
The Nationals tacked on two more in the sixth when Desmond led off with a triple off the wall and scored on Espinosa's double and Denard Span added a run-scoring infield single. All five runs were charged to Gavin Floyd (0-2), who allowed nine hits and walked three in 5 1/3 innings.
Former National Adam Dunn put the White Sox ahead with an RBI groundout in the first, but he was the first of eight straight retired by Zimmermann until Alex Rios' leadoff single in the fourth. Rios drove in Chicago's other run with a groundout in the sixth.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Nationals have hit nine home runs in their five home games and have hit at least one homer in eight of their nine contests. … White Sox 2B Gordon Beckham sat out with a sore left wrist. Regular 3B Jeff Keppinger took his place at second with Conor Gillaspie starting at third. … Chicago was 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position.
