Braves 5, Marlins 0: Justin Upton, Chris Johnson and Brian McCann all homered while Brandon Beachy pitched eight scoreless innings as host Atlanta rolled to its 14th consecutive victory.
Beachy (1-0) was dominant in his third start since returning from a year off following Tommy John elbow surgery. He struck out six, walked one and allowed three hits while improving to 3-0 against Miami and preserving Atlanta's 15 1/2-game lead in the National League East.
Right-hander Jacob Turner (3-4) lasted only five innings, giving up five runs (four earned) on five hits as the Marlins lost their sixth straight. Miami has also lost the last five games Turner has started.
The Braves jumped on Turner early as Upton extended his hitting streak to 13 games when he drove a 2-2 fastball over the wall in left with one out in the first and Johnson followed three batters later with a three-run blast to left-center for a 4-0 lead. McCann added a solo shot to center in the third.
After allowing a single to Christian Yelich to lead off the game, Beachy did not permit another baserunner until Logan Morrison's leadoff single in the fifth. He struck out the side in the fourth and induced a pair of double plays.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The 14-game streak is the Braves' longest since they won 15 straight from April 16-May 2, 2000. … Yelich extended his hitting streak to nine games. … Turner had allowed three home runs in 77 1/3 innings this season before allowing two in the first inning and three overall.
