Diamondbacks 8, Cubs 4: Wil Nieves had three hits and two RBIs while Patrick Corbin became the first nine-game winner in the majors as visiting Arizona took two of three from Chicago.
Corbin (9-0) allowed a season-high four earned runs on six hits in six innings but got enough support to win his seventh straight start. The Diamondbacks collected 13 hits - 12 singles - and every starting position player had at least one.
Cubs starter Edwin Jackson (1-8) was hurt by some sloppy defense in the three-run second and fell apart with two outs in the sixth. He allowed three straight singles - including Paul Goldschmidt's go-ahead, run-scoring hit - uncorked a wild pitch and issued an intentional walk before Cody Ross's two-run single chased him.
Scott Hairston hit a two-run homer in the fifth for the Cubs, who have lost two straight following a season-best five-game winning streak.
Corbin has allowed four runs in each of his last two starts after giving up two or fewer over his first nine.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Jackson allowed seven runs (five earned) on 12 hits in 5 2/3 innings and dropped to 1-7 all-time at Wrigley Field, including a 0-5 mark this season. … Goldschmidt's RBI in the sixth was his National League-best 46th of the season, one more than Cincinnati's Brandon Phillips. … Arizona 3B Martin Prado went 1-for-4 to extend his hitting streak to eight games.
