Cubs 8, Brewers 2: Ian Stewart scored the go-ahead run and also homered to help visiting Chicago salvage the finale of a three-game series.
The victory snapped Chicago’s 10-game losing streak at Milwaukee’s Miller Park.
Stewart doubled with one out in the seventh against Kameron Loe (2-1) and scored to give the Cubs a 3-2 lead when Milwaukee shortstop Edwin Maysonet committed a throwing error on a two-out grounder by Darwin Barney.
Chicago added two runs in the eighth as Tony Campana scored on a wild pitch by Manny Parra and Alfonso Soriano blasted run-scoring doubles to center.
The Cubs broke the game open in the ninth as Barney delivered a run-scoring double, Campana smacked a run-scoring single and Starlin Castro added an RBI single.
Milwaukee struck first when Taylor Green hit a sacrifice fly in the fourth.
Chicago tied the contest in the fifth when Stewart slugged his fourth homer of the season.
The Cubs took a 2-1 lead on a pinch-hit homer by Reed Johnson to lead off the sixth.
Milwaukee tied the contest in the bottom of the sixth when former Cub Aramis Ramirez drew a two-out walk against Shawn Camp (1-1), moved to third on a double by Corey Hart and scored on an infield single by Green.
Brewers starter Marco Estrada allowed two runs and five hits in six innings.
Chicago starter Jeff Samardzija struck out six in five innings and gave up one run and three hits.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Campana had three hits for his fourth multiple hit game since last Sunday. … Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy went hitless in four at-bats to snap a nine-game hitting streak. … Stewart was 0-for-13 over his previous four games before Sunday’s two-hit contest. … Milwaukee second baseman Rickie Weeks (wrist) missed his second straight game.
