White Sox 9, Indians 0: Dan Johnson belted his first three homers of the season and Gavin Floyd scattered three hits over seven sizzling innings as visiting Chicago throttled Cleveland in its regular-season finale.
Dayan Viciedo homered in each game of the series and scored four times on Wednesday. Paul Konerko added a two-run shot and Hector Gimenez had an RBI single among his three hits for the White Sox, who posted just their fourth win in 15 contests.
Playing in just his 14th game, Johnson opened the scoring by crushing a two-run shot in the second inning off David Huff (3-1). After Konerko's 26th homer gave Chicago a 5-0 lead, Johnson recorded his first multi-homer game since Sept. 15, 2010, when he deposited a fastball over the wall in right field.
Johnson capped his phenomenal evening in the ninth with his third homer, which came on the heels of Viciedo's blast. Viciedo, who finished 3-for-4 on Wednesday, had three homers, drove in eight runs and scored six times in the series.
The offensive explosion was more than enough for Floyd (12-11), who struck out six en route to securing a winning record at season's end for the first time since 2008.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Indians RF Shin-Soo Choo singled in the eighth inning to extend his hitting streak to 13 games. ... White Sox DH Adam Dunn was a spectator on Wednesday to remain one strikeout behind Mark Reynolds' major-league record of 223, set in 2009 while he was with Arizona. ... Konerko will undergo surgery Thursday to remove a bone fragment in his left wrist.
