White Sox 11, Indians 0: Hector Santiago allowed one hit and struck out a career-high 10 over seven solid innings and Dayan Viciedo belted a grand slam for visiting Chicago, which was eliminated from postseason contention when Detroit beat Kansas City later Monday.
Adam Dunn collected a pair of RBI singles - including his first with two outs to ignite a four-run sixth inning for the White Sox, who let a two-game lead over the Tigers in the American League Central on Sept. 20 slip away.
After starters Santiago (4-1) and Corey Kluber (2-5) combined to permit only three hits over five scoreless innings, Dunn ignited Chicago's offense with an RBI single to shallow center.
Alex Rios plated Dunn with a run-scoring single off the left-field wall before A.J. Pierzynski and Viciedo followed with back-to-back run-scoring singles to right field to give Chicago a 4-0 lead. Viciedo's slam capped a six-run ninth.
The offense was more than enough for Santiago, who recorded his first win since Sept. 3. The left-hander allowed a two-out single to Shin-Soo Choo in the third inning before handcuffing Cleveland the rest of the way.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Sandy Alomar Jr. and Terry Francona are expected to formally interview for the Indians' managerial position later this week. ... Rios, who went 2-for-5, is 11-for-22 during his six-game hitting streak. ... Kluber fell to 0-4 at Progressive Field this season after yielding four runs on five hits in 5 2/3 innings.
